How to make banana slice snack by dehydrator

Banana is a very common fruit in tropics. For me, I live in the temperate zone and the banana trees can't live and fruit here. So I can only buy bananas from other areas and they all go bad very quickly. So I have to figure out ways to conserve them before they rot.

So here I will introduce to you a method to dehydrate them first and conserve them.

What we need to prepare are bananas, a knife, and a dehydrator.

So let's check the simple steps:

  1. Peel the bananas. Because I don't like the taste of the banana peel.

  2. Slice the peeled bananas. Make the slice suitable thickness. It will be hard to dry them if too thick and it is may destroy the pretty shape if too thin.

  3. Then put all slice slowly into the dehydrator. Turn on the dehydrator and wait for several days. The dehydrating time depends on the local atmosphere in your city. So if you think it's dried thoroughly, then it's OK.

  4. When the drying process finished, put the dehydrated slices into a sealed tub or any sealed box you have. Then put the tub into the chiller to cool the dried slices.

  5. After hours, you will find your banana slices crispy and delicious.

The weather I make the banana snacks is hot and wet and rainy, So the banana snack are always soft when I check them in the dehydrator. After a while, my friend told me that too much sugar inside the banana makes it hard to go crispy in hot weather. So I decided to put them in the chiller and it turns out good. If you put them in the freezer, you will get another special taste.

And if you spread some dough or other powder outside the slice, you may make special taste snacks.

  • Don't try to dehydrate them if the atmosphere is wet.

  • Sometimes, the high temperature will prevent the dried banana slices from going crispy. Then the chiller can help.
